I know that the bearer of this paper Michael Ward was educated at the Edgeworth town school at Edgeworth Town, Ireland by my brother Lovell Edgeworth who thought him a good boy and since he has become a man he has, as I am assured by those who know his conduct, behaved well always and is sober, honest, and industrious - also intelligent and capable of acting as clerk or overseer. I therefore give him,as his brother and he earnestly request, this note of recommendation to all in America who may be inclined to trust to a signature which has never been put to a falsehood.
