Tape Date: 13th September 1995

This week we hear arguments for the deconstruction of the term 'Paedophile Priest', and for Dail support of legislation which will allow prosecution in Ireland for acts of prostitution committed abroad. We also begin two new series: one on the commandments which will be carried over the next five tapes; and a series of reflections by Fr Frank Fahy recently recorded on a visit to Ballintubber Abbey.  Further pieces will be carried on the next four or five tapes, and they could be put together to make a entire programme.

4.    Paedophilia:  Harry Ferguson of the Dept of Applied Social Studies at UCC has, in the current issue of Studies, called for an end to the term 'Paedophile Priest', so that the whole area of child sex abuse can be dealt with properly.  Tomas Toal spoke to him by 'phone to discover the reasons behind his call.

In  Ferguson:   "It arose primarily..........men who sexually abuse."    Time: 5.39
