On this week's tape we have two pieces from the Church of Ireland General Synod, including an interview with Archbishop Robin Eames, president of the Synod. We also speak with Fr Lászlo Luckacs, press officer for the Hungarian Bishops Conference and leading Catholic spokesman on communications issues.We continue our look at issues surrounding the Leaving Certificate, interviewing Marie Barrett, a leading writer and broadcaster in the field of Education. There is also the first in a series of five interviews with Fr Diarmuid Ó'Murchú on the broad theme of "Change".

1. Crossways: News in the Church and World. In our main report, St. Louis Sister Ann Kavanagh, whose congregation has sisters in Liberia, speaks to Liam Greene, SJ about the current crisis there. The news was read by Liam Greene, SJ and Elaine Comerford.

2. Fr Lászlo Luckacs: Fr Lászlo Luckacs (pronounced Loo-Kash) is the press officer for the Hungarian Catholic Bishops Conference and leading European Catholic spokesman on communications issues. He recently addressed the European Conference of Public Relations professionals in Dublin on the theme of "The Church in the Information Age." Afterwards he spoke to Alan McGuckian, SJ about the impact of new technologies.

3. Suicide: Marie Barrett is a writer and broadcaster in the field of Education. Recently she produced a booklet and audio tape titled Hope in the face of Suicide. Marie Stuart, RSM asked her what it is like for the family and friends of someone who has committed suicide.

5. Viatores Christi: Andrew Fanthome works in the Department of Forestry. He is President of Viatores Christi, a lay missionary organisation which prepares and sends lay missionaries overseas. He has worked in Canada setting up small Christian communities. He himself is a member of a small Christian community in Crumlin, Dublin. Here he talks to Maeve O'Reilly, SSL about Viatores Christi.

1. Alberic Turner - The Mass: In this interview Alberic Turner, a Cistercian Brother from Bolton Abbey in Moone, Co. Kildare reflects on the meaning of the Mass.

2. Consultation in the Catholic Church: Aileen Walsh is a mother, a psychologist and a theologian. Recently she addressed a meeting of the National Conference of Priests of Ireland and told them why she thinks that a National Synod of the Roman Catholic Church is not a good idea right now. Later, she spoke to Martin Browne.

3. Archbishop Eames: The General Synod of the Church of Ireland took place last week in Dublin. Archbishop Robin Eames, in his capacity as president of the Synod gave the keynote address. Among the issues he covered were the Northern cease-fires, ecumenism and the role of young people in the Church. Afterwards, he spoke to Martin Browne about these issues.

4. Young Adults in the Church of Ireland: One of the highlights of the Church of Ireland General Synod this year was a presentation by a group of young people. They told the members of Synod how they felt the Church needed to become more relevant. They particularly wanted the Church to involve young people more, both in worship and decision-making. Their presentation was followed by a response from the Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Rt. Revd. James Mehaffey. Afterwards, Martin Browne spoke to Bishop Mehaffey, along with two of the other speakers, Katherine Crampton and Leanne Evertsen.
