We have a strong emphasis on Easter themes on this 3R tape, with pieces on the Resurrection, Judas, the Passion, and Easter Traditions. We also have a piece on the recent prize giving ceremony for the Emigrant Newsletter Competition, and the Church of Ireland response to the recent Education Bill.

1. Crossways: News in the Church and the World. "Faoiseamh", the helpline set up by the conference of religious of Ireland to help those who have been abused by members of religious congregations, has been in operation for a month. In this week's main report we hear of its progress from Sr. Colette Stevenson, Director of the Child Protection Office at CORI. The news was read by Alan McGuckian, SJ, and Elaine Comerford.

2. The Passion: Donald Grant comes from Glenlivet in Scotland. He was a chemical engineer before he became a Carmelite priest. His work now includes retreat work and teaching spirituality and pastoral theology. Donald has been seriously ill for a number of years and in this interview with Marie Stuart RSM he reflects on the passion in the light of his own experience.

3. The Resurrection: Victor Wheatley is a retired Church of Ireland school teacher whose wisdom and insights are in constant demand in broadcasting circles. Recently on 3R Victor spoke to Lorcan Brennan about the season of Lent. In this, a follow up interview, Victor shares his understanding of the season of Easter.

5. Business Ethics: Ethics are big business these days. So says David Smith, a lecturer in moral theology at the Milltown Institiute. According to him, more and more people are investing in companies with an ethical focus. Those businesses who refuse to engage in activities detrimental to their workers, the environment and the public at large seem to be reaping the rewards. Maria O'Loughlin asked him what this new area of business ethics entails.

6. The Church in England: Recently the Bishops of England and Wales published a document titled `The Common Good' and some of the English media suggested that they were supporting the Labour Party. In this interview Teresa Clements D.M.J.(Clemens) talks to Marie Stuart, RSM, about the content and impact of the document. She also reflects on the present position of the Catholic Church in England and why so many people are interested in becoming members. Teresa taught theology in Africa, Rome and Milltown Institute in Dublin. She is Provincial leader of her Congregation and President of the Conference of Religious of England and Wales.

2. Oil and Healing: Throughout the world, in every Roman Catholic Cathedral, oils for use throughout the year are blessed on the morning of Holy Thursday. The tradition is not so strong within the Anglican tradition, but in recent years , it has been revived in Dublin's Christchurch Cathedral. The use of oil in the ministry of healing is becoming more widespread in the Church of Ireland. Martin Browne spoke to the Revd. Peter Barrett about this development. Peter is Church of Ireland chaplain at Trinity College and is also a part time lecturer in Anglican spirituality at the Milltown Institute.

3. Judas: Judas Iscariot has been a hate figure for nearly 2,000 years. Since his betrayal of Christ, his name has been used to describe all that is treacherous and spineless. But we tend to forget that he was above all a human being loved by Jesus. So says Fr. Paul Andrews, SJ, a practising psychotherapist. He suggests that there is something of Judas in all of us. Maria O'Loughlin asked him just who Judas was.

4. Emigrant Newsletter Competition Winners: The prize giving for the best Parish Emigrant Newsletter took place on Friday 14th of March in Dublin Airport, hosted by Aer Rianta. The Parish of Myshall, Co. Carlow were this year's delighted winners. Church of Ireland Minister, Rev. Chris Halliday went along to the prize giving ceremony and afterwards talked to Brian Byrne, General Manager of Aer Rianta, and Ms Brigid Fox who received the prize on behalf of Myshall Parish.

5. Education Bill - Church of Ireland Response: Such is the level of concern about certain provisions of the Education Bill now before the Oireachtas, that all the main Christian Churches, along with the Muslim community, have come together to voice their concerns. They're particularly concerned about the role of the Patron under the proposed legislation. David Meredith, Secretary of the Church of Ireland Board of Education spoke to Martin Browne.

6. Redmond Fitzmaurice: Fr Redmond Fitzmaurice, OP, lecturer in the Milltown Institute and the Irish School of Ecumenics is very committed to dialogue between Christians and Muslims. Alan McGuckian, SJ, spoke to him about the common Christian perception of Muslims as rigid and aggressive. He first of all cited the case of the treatment by Muslims of the novelist, Salman Rushdie.

This week we are including for your information, a brochure for a seminar on Compassionate Communication, to be given in Dublin on April 21st by Dr Marshall Rosenberg who initially developed the concept of Compassionate or Non-Violent Communication.
