  We have a special nine minute documentary on the homeless, and we look at the proposal of the Social Policy Conference organised by the Conference of Religious of Ireland, where oral and written responses were made by each of the six political parties in the Dail.

Side One:

1. Crossways:   News in the Church and the World. For our main report Liam Greene spoke to Rev. Kenneth Keron about the recent statement of the Church of Ireland on the divorce referendum. The news was read by Elaine Comerford and Liam Greene, SJ.

2. The Commandments:   Fr Michael Drumm talks about the first two commandments.  Each piece starts with the Commandment being read by Sr Anne Hannon.  As an introduction to the first commandment we have a short vox pop.

1st Commandment
In  Hannon:  "First, I am..............trust God more than ourselves."   Time: 5.18

3. Ballintubber:  Fr Frank Fahy continues our series of reflections from Ballintubber Abbey.  Today's first piece is on Tochar Phadraig, Patrick's Way, to Croak Patrick.  The second piece reflects on the idea of Pilgrimage as central to life, the Christian journey, and particularly to Celtic Spirituality.

4.    Steve Collins:  To commemorate Emigrant Sunday, Steve Collins shares his personal emigration story with Antoinette Harbourne.

Side Two:

1. Bishop Kirby:  Bishop Kirby discusses the pastoral letter of the Bishops of Ireland with Antoinette Harbourne on the occasion of Famine Remembrance Sunday (September 24th).  War being one of the main causes of famine, he evaluates the work of the EU and UN, and expresses his hopes for the future.

2. Homeless:  In this nine minute documentary, Pat Larkin Coyle looks at the issue of homelessness.  The piece includes comments from homeless people, and from people who try to help them.  It begins and ends with music by the Cranberries, and some comments are interspersed with various music pieces.  Tomas Toal did the sound editing.

3. CORI - Sean Healy:  An Adequate Income Guarantee for All, was the theme of this year's Social Policy Conference, organised by the Conference of Religious of Ireland.  Questions of how this system would operate, what it would cost, could we afford it and what impact it would have on unemployment and the labour market were addressed.  Marie Stuart RSM raised some central questions about the proposal with Fr Sean Healy of the Justice Office of CORI.

4. St Francis and Animals:    On the feast of St Francis, lover of animals, Kieran Cronin, OFM talks to Antoinette Harbourne about respect for animals.  He discusses how the Church struggles between the traditional and modern representations of animals in the Catechism, and how the business community is beginning to include a respect for nature in their business ethics.  Kieran lectures on Moral Philosophy in Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy, Dublin.
