Directed by Oliver Stone (1999).
Any Given Sunday depicts the high-octane world of American Football in overdrive. The film follows the trials and tribulations of once-great coach Tony D'Amato, played by Al Pacino, in top form, as he battles with new team ownership, poor match results and injured players.
The camerawork is amazing with never-before-experienced scenes from within the game with all the in-your-face tackles and traumas. The editing is such that the 2.5 hours running time seems to fly by. The film is not all action, though, much of it is centered on D'Amato as he strives to get the various lead characters on his side and prove that he's not the has-been that some think he has become. Any given Sunday - you either win or lose...
