Fever Pitch is about passion. The subject matter happens to be football but it could be anything, any sport or pastime, any subject that a person finds themselves totally immersed in and which ends up controlling and effecting their life entirely.
Such a person is Paul, played by Colin Firth. He's an English teacher, unassuming and unambitious, his love of football and Arsenal Football Club, in particular, dominates his life. Then he meets Sarah, played by Ruth Gemmell, a new teacher at his school.
As their friendship develops Paul realises that human relationships, unlike football are not played out in seasons and if he does want something more in his life then perhaps some compromises and changes are in order.... but can he manage it?
The romance of the two main characters is played out against the struggles of Paul's favourite team in their bid for the League Championship, with the ups and downs of the team's progress directly effecting the fortunes of the relationship. How will it all end ?
This is a true feel-good movie, the lead actors are excellent and even if you are not a football fan, which I'm not, you will still find much to relate to in this marvelous comedy drama.
