It took Nissan 20 years to come up with a car that was successful as the original 240 ZX. Although been criticised for been too bulky in Europe it still managed to be a success yet again in America just like the first Fairlady Z. Having great performance along with handling the 300ZX was considered by many to be the first true Japanese Supercar, Ready to compete with the likes of Ferrari in a heartbeat. Regardless of size the 300 ZX Fairlady remained mostly a dream to many in Europe due to the car been a bit of an drunkard with fuel consumption.

You'll never guess why this prototype Nissan was called Mid 4...... give up? Maybe it got something to do with been mid engine, having 4 wheel drive along with 4 wheel steering. Also got 4 valves per cylinder with 4 overhead cams! The mid-4 can said to be the precursor to the Skyline R32 onwards and of course the 300 ZX. The only reason this car never got into production is that Nissan simply believed it would not be profitable.

MID 4
2nd Generation
Prototype

Less is know about this prototype, the second generation MID 4 but it is taught that this car was used even more for the testing of new technologies that later got used in the 300ZX and especially the R32 Skyline GT-R. Released in 1988 with 325 bhp of power, not only was it possible to outrun a modern European Supercar, it also looked as good as a Ferrari.
