2000 GT-EX
The first noticeable difference about this generation Skyline is how it begin to resemble all other Nissan Skylines that came after it, using the now familiar body style. While seriously lacking in technology by today standards with limited electronics and only producing drive at the back wheels, it still none the less was a great platform for Group A racing which help won it many racing fans around the world.

The R30 series came with the same L20ET engine as the C211 which was nothing to write home about considering the major advancements of other manufactures.

2000
All of that changed with the arrival of the RS series, with a new 2.0 litre DOHC 16 valve 4 cylinder turbo producing 190 bhp. This new engine now had a 7500 rpm redline but there was still no GT-R badge, probably due to it's having four cylinders instead of six which did not give the power needed to be a true GTR.
