Pictures taken in and around West Limerick
This picture was taken on a beautiful summer evening in
Rosemount using a standard S.L.R. camera. I did not use a filter to enhance the
colors, this is how sunset looks in Rosemount.
For
many years now these swans have nested in Cappagh. On this occasion they had
walked about two miles to take the little cygnets to the River Deel. At this
stage they were so exhausted that the local utility workers turned out to help
even though the cob-that's the male swan-was being extremely protective. When
this photograph was taken the little cygnets could only walk about twenty feet
between rests. The workers brought bread and water and laid them on the roadway.
After about two hours they eventually arrived at the slipway to the river.
