We learned that people who grow coffee, tea, bananas and cocoa beans get very little money for all their work.
We learned that the Fair Trade label on packets means thar the growers and pickers get a better share of the final price of their produce.

We decided to hold a Fair Trade Day. We made posters to invite people to the school Máiréad Sheedy came to talk about Fair Trade. She showed a film. It showed the bad working conditions many people work under to grow our tea and coffee and cocoa. We learned the difference a fair price makes to people’s lives.
Máiréad brought lovely things to sell, beautiful boxes and ornaments, tea, coffee, cocoa and chocolate. The local businesses took some Fair Trade tea.
We are now a Fair Trade School and Máiréad presented the children with a certificate. Some pupils had their photo in the newspaper.
