Masonite League Division 1B

Bornacoola 0-11 Aughavas 0-10

Bornacoola's magnificent new pitch was treated to an entertaining draw last Sunday afternoon when Aughavas levelled with a late free in this Masonite Division One B clash.

The new Bornacoola pitch will be officially opened on May 12th with a challenge between Leitrim and Offaly and a meeting of Bornacoola and Annaduff. But Aughavas left with a share of the spoils after Padraig McLoughlin levelled it late on.

The game opened with McLoughlin pointing early on but two Mark McCloskey frees, after twelve minutes, had Bornacoola in front. With Gary McCloskey dominating with a great display, the Bors went in front when he set up Aidan Reilly for a point.

Aughavas lost Enda McNamara with a broken nose as McCloskey pointed. McLoughlin pulled back a point after eighteen minutes before Fintan McBrien scored. Mark McCloskey pointed after a good run by his brother Gary while Adrian Charles started off a move in his own defence and then popped up in attack to finish it after thirty minutes.

In injury time, McLoughlin added two points to one from Mark McCloskey to leave it 0-6 apiece at the break. The second half was a tit for tat affair with McLoughlin opening the scoring only for Michael Duignan to level. Damien Smith and Mark McCloskey levelled scores before John Bohan edged the Bors in front. Barry McKiernan levelled from long distance before Gary McCloskey set up Trevor Howard for a potential match winner with less than two minutes to go. However, Aughavas won a free in the last minute and McLoughlin converted to earn the draw.
