Ronan Guilfoyle is one of the few Irish jazz muxicians with an international reputation. He began his career in the early 1980's and rapidly established himself as one of the most important figures in the new generation of musicians playing jazz in Ireland. He has played with many of the great figures in contemporary jazz including Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Larry Coryell, Richie Beirach and Enrico Pieranunzi. He has also led his own bands and performed with them in Europe, the U.S., India, China and Turkey. He is much in demand as a teacher and has been a guest teacher at many schools and colleges throughout the world, including Berklee College of Music in Boston. He is also very active as a composer and has composed several pieces for Symphony Orchestra and chamber groups as well as many jazz ensembles
