No Decision On Tolling Before Christmas

Oral hearing report to be made public

A NATIONAL Roads Authority spokesperson Caroline O’Brien said the NRA didn’t expect to receive the Inspector’s report on the oral hearing into the Draft Toll Scheme for the Waterford Bypass before Christmas.

The inspector who chaired the two day oral hearing that completed its business in November, was Kevin O’Sullivan.

The hearing heard objections to tolling the Bypass from a range of individuals and groups from Waterford city councillors and hauliers to the Port of Waterford, landowners and representatives of workers travelling to Waterford to work five days a week.

Ms O’Brien was unable to say when it was expected that the NRA would make its final ruling on whether or not to go ahead with tolling Waterford’s proposed second river crossing or whether to amend the scheme.

She said when a decision was reached, a public notice would be published in the media informing people.

The spokesperson confirmed that Mr O’Sullivan would be making his report on the oral hearing public.
