The Route Options Public Consultation took place between
December 1999 and January 2000. The 3 corridor options are
illustrated in the adjacent map in red, green and violet.
When eventually the emerging preferred route was announced however, it bore little relation to the corridor options. It is outlined in black on the adjacent map. As you can see, it is totally different from the route options, falls outside the footprint of all three corridors and introduces a completely new spur in a north westerly direction to join the existing N52. The developer of the road is Westmeath County Council. Their consultants are Halcrow Barry. |
