Taking Care in our School

Green School

The school has applied for a Green School Award through An Taisce. 

It will take a number of years of environmental work in the school to achieve this.

Teachers, pupils and parents need to be more conscious of the environment and they way we manage it.

The seven action of the green Schools Programme are:

• A Green Schools Committee
• Environmental review
• Action Plan
• Monitoring and Evaluation
• Curriculum Work
• Informing & Involving
• Green Code

The Green-Schools programme can help schools to:

• Improve the School environment
• Reduce litter and waste
• Reduce fuel bills
• Increase environmental awareness
• Involve the local community
• Gain local publicity
• Create links with other schools in Ireland and abroad

Healthy Eating                                                            

A healthy eating day took place in the school rcently.  This was organized by the parents council.  All the pupils were given fruit and youghurt for small break and a selecction of sandwiches for big break.     

It is important that pupils eat a good balance diet.  We would encourage parents to reflect on what goes into your child's lunchbox

Respect in the Yard

Break time is a time for pupils to unwind from shool work and have a chat with friends and also to have fun and exercise with their friends.  Yard time is best enjoyed when:

• Pupils play fairly.
• Take care of their friends.
• Leave their dogs at home.
• Bring unwanted litter back into their lunch boxes
