School Activities
The school participates in inter-school competitions in hurling, gaelic football, soccer and basketball. Coaching takes place on the school pitch at the back of the school and on the basketabll court.

The school has a chess club for pupils from 3rd to 6th classes. Over the year all interested pupils in these classes are given the opportunity to play in competitions within their classes. Break times on wet days sees a lot of chess practice taken place throughout the school.
The school regularly participates in the Scholastic Chess competition, an All-Ireland competion for primary schools. Qualification is through winning local county competitons to qualifty for national finals. The school has received a national ranking of 31 at All-Ireland level.
The school works with the local organising committee of the Community Games in organizing participation in Community Sports. Pupils partake at parish level, then county and finally national in both team and individual events. Sections entered this year were soccer, chess, table tennis, art, cross-country running and swimming.
Children in fourth, fifth and sixth classes learn to play recorder in school.
A school choir performs at local events, usually Communion and Confirmation Ceromonies in the parish. Christmas concerts, school concerts and occasionally National Childrens Choir provide other musical experiences for our pupils.
Harp lessons take place in the school through the World harp centre which is located in Castleconnell.
A very popular actibity for pupils is Karate whre pupils learn self-defence techniques and acquire katate belts. Karate begins from Infants and pupils who attend are grouped according to ability.
Children from Infants to Sixth Class participate in Drama Workshops once a week during term time. They engage in all aspects of drama and have the opportunity to participate in both Irish Board of Speech and Drama and Acting Medal Exams.
Pupils from first to sixth go to the Arena, the splendid swimming pool in University College, Limerick. Here pupils are taught to swim over a ten week period. Pupils are taught by qualified swimming teachers.
Computer has a dedicated computer room with internet access, videoconferencing facilites and access to other computer peroiphals. Each class gets a term of attending computer room to engage in educational work through IT.
Speech & Drama takes place in the school library weekly for pupils from all classes.
