St. Patrick's Day
Patrick as a Young Boy:
Patrick lived with his family on the west coast of Britain. When he was sixteen the town was raided by pirates. They brought him on a ship and sold him to a chieftain called Milchiu who left him on Slemish Mountain in County Antrim. His job was to mind the sheep and pigs. He often was so hungry that he ate the animals' food. He prayed to God one hundred times a day and as many times every night asking him to take him back home. One night he had a strange dream. He dream't he saw a ship. The next morning Patrick walked and walked until he came to the sea. There was a ship waiting there. There were wolfhounds on board the ship. They were on their way to France. The dogs were barking loudly. When Patrick spoke the dogs stopped barking. The captain of the ship told Patrick he could come with them if he looked after the dogs. Patrick arrived in France where he got another ship back to Britain. by Joy
Easter Sunday Morning
It was Easter Sunday morning and Patrick decided he would light a fire to celebrate Christ's Resurrection. Patrick did not know that noone was allowed to light a fire before the King. The king was not pleased when he saw the smoke coming from the Hill os Slane. King Laoire got his soldiers and went from the Hill of Tara to the Hill of Slane. He said to Patrick ''how dare you light a fire before me''. ''I did not know'' said Patrick, I lit my fire to show that Jesus is the light of the world. King Laoire listened to what St, Patrick had to say and although he did not become a Christian he and Patrick became friends. He gave St. Patrick permission to preach around the country. by Jason
