The Chaffinch
Appearance | They are 15cm.long The male is brighter. The female looks like a sparrow but she has white on her tail and white on her wings. |
Found | Chaffinches can be found in gardens, parks and woodlands. They are very common in gardens. |
Nest: | Their nest is built in the fork of a tree. The female builds her nest from moss and grass and lines it with feathers and rootlets. The male goes with her to collect the material for her nest but will not carry it for her. She lays 3-5 eggs. She may have one or two broods. |
Feeding | They like to eat the seeds. They feed their young on young flies and caterpillars. |
