The Goldfinch

Appearance: The goldfinch has a striped head. It is red, white and black. It's beak is whitish, it is short and strong. It has a white rump and a golden yellow wing bar which is seen easily in flight.It has a black crown and white cheeks with a red stripe near its beak.
Found Goldfinches are found in gardens, parks and the countryside. They are very common.
Nest: The female builds the nest. Their nest is well hidden in trees near the end of the branch. It is a moss nest that is thickly lined with wool. She lays four - six white eggs that are speckled with red.
Feeding Goldfinches eat seeds such as dandelion or thistles seeds. They will eat peanuts from the feeder.
