The Pied Wagtail
Appearance | The wagtail is black and white. His throat changes to white in Winter and black in the summer. It got its name because it wags his tail even when he is standing still and pied means two colours, usually black and white. It is the only bird that walks. The female can be recognised in Springtime because her tail stands up straight. |
Found | The Pied Wagtail can be found in gardens, parks and woodlands. |
Nest: | They build a cupshaped nest in a hole in the wall or in other birds' old nests. The eggs are brown and speckled. |
Feeding | They eat insects, worms and breadcrumbs. They feed their young on young insects. |
