The Wren

Appearance: The wren is a small brown mouse like bird. It has a sharp beak. It has a short tail which it cocks up. It is 9cm long from the tip of its tail to the tip of its sharp beak.
Found The wren is found in gardens and parks. They are rather shy birds and like lots of undergrowth to hide in. They will not visit the bird table unless the ground is very hard. Cold an ice are their enemies.
Nest: The Daddy wren builds lots of nests and mammy chooses one of nests. Daddy sleeps in the other nests because there is no room for him in mammy's nest. The wren lays 5 to 6 eggs. In two weeks they become fledglings. In another two weeks they leave to live on their own and become independent.
Feeding The wren is a rare visitor to the bird table as they are shy. They eat small insects, aphids and grubs. Spiders are their favourite.
