Hello!
Dia Dhaoibh!
Welcome to our Web Page.
St. Finian's N.S.,Clonard,
Enfield,
Co. Meath,
Ireland.
Hello!
St. Finian's National School was founded in 1910. It is a small rural mixed school comprising of sixty six pupils. Clonard was famous in the history books as the site of a very famous monastery from the fifth century founded by St. Finian. Very little remains of that monastery, but the fragments that are still there are important historically and archaeologically.
Our school takes part in a number of sport activities in the county, as well as looking at environmental issues. We are at present in the process of developing a school environmental garden, and you can read about this in a special page on our website.
The village is about 35 miles(56 km) west of Dublin as one travels west. It is in county Meath.
Meath is known as
The Royal County and once again this year the Royals have claimed the coveted Sam Maguire Trophy for the seventh time, winning the All Ireland senior football title.A land of rolling pastures and gently undulating hills, Clonard rests quietly on the banks of the river Boyne carrying with it the traditions, legends and history associated with it's once famous Patron saint.
