Norwegian Wood
InformationThis was John's way of writing of an affair without letting Cynthia know. It describes a seduction scene where, again, the woman appears to be in control. The lyrics open with a boast about a girl that John has 'had' but he then corrects himself by saying she 'had' him. They talk until two in the morning but he makes excuses and goes to the bathroom instead of sleeping with her. As this was his way of writing of an affair, the actual story probably had a different ending. John asked Paul for help with the ending so Paul suggested burning down the apartment, casually adding it to the lyrics. "So I lit a fire, isn't it good Norwegian Wood"
