Hi - cone Rings
We the girls in fifth class, Corpus Christi
are collecting hi-cone rings from the top of beer cans. At the
end of the twelve weeks we are going to send them back to the
hi-cone factory in Mallow, Co. Cork. The reason we are collecting
these rings is because:-
1. They get caught in swans necks, fish
fins and animals feet.
2. Because they use up oil. Oil is used
to make toys, rulers, bottles and to wrap most of our food.
Someday the oil will run out.
Can you imagine the world without cars,
aeroplanes, boats or plastic? Recycling is important. Someday
all the dumps will be full. Then what will we do? Germany has
one of the better recycling systems. In Germany they have four
bins in their houses. They are different colours so you can
tell the difference.
The bins are:
RED : For
plastic
GREEN : For organic such as vegetable
skins etc.
BLUE : For
paper
WHITE :
For non-recyclable They also have public bins for glass and
cans.
Why do they recycle? Because their rubbish
is weighed and you pay for what you throw out. So if they recycle
they save money.
PLEASE try to recycle like Tracy (fifth
class Room 3) who has brought 1138 rings in already! You can
bring these rings into Corpus Christi!
