Leargas, Comenius Action 1 Project. Corpus Christi is taking part in the Leargas, Comenius Action 1 Project. The aim of the project is to increase an understanding of, and respect for, the diversity of cultures throughout Europe. Last May, two of the teachers from Corpus Christi, Anne Carey and Ann Murphy, travelled to Zaragoza in Spain to undertake the setting up of this project. During their preparatory visit the two teachers worked with Spanish teachers from Colegio Virgen Blanca, Zaragoza, and teachers from Ecole d'Application les Condamines de Versaille. The project that the three schools decided to work on was: - "Festivals we celebrate throughout the year; cultural events, traditional events and commemorations which occur over the course of the school year, and which are at the heart of the three cultures of the European countries involved - France, Spain and Ireland." It was decided that the children would celebrate the following occasions, and correspond with the children in the other two countries: - IRISH: - SPANISH: - FRENCH: - Since last September, the second classes in Corpus Christi have been corresponding with children of the same age in the French and Spanish schools. They have learnt a lot about celebrations in both countries, and have enjoyed sharing their own experiences. The children are busy now preparing for their celebration of St. Patrick's Day.
