The Celts, probably, came to Ireland about 2,300 years ago. They didn't live in towns like us. They lived in Ring Forts. If stone was used it was called a Dún or Cathair. if earth was used it was called a Rath or Lios.

The Celts were a tribe who lived all over Western Europe from about 3,000 years ago. They were very clever and they found out how to use a new metal far better than bronze. This new metal was IRON.

Sometimes they made a Ring Fort on a lake. This was called a Crannóg.
