  • These tombs are called Portal Dolmens. The Dolmen is the top stone which could weigh up to 100 tonnes. The side stones are called the portals.
  • Who built them? Miners from Denmark.
  • Where would you see these tombs? Scotland, Ireland, South Western England, Brittany and Germany.
  • What were the miners looking for? Gold in Wicklow, Copper in Waterford, Tin in Cornwall
  • How were they different from earlier tombs? Only one person was buried in these tombs. They were not cremated.
