I.T. NEWS

The computers have arrived from Dell, so we hope to be up and running soon.We have been invited to join 14 other schools in a cross-border video conference link-up with schools in Northern
Ireland.  This is a great honour for our school, and a unique opportunity to involve our pupils in a "hands across the border" exercise.

The most exciting aspect of moving into the new building has been the  impetus for introducing new opportunities for all our pupils.  The number of parents volunteering their time or expertise is very welcome indeed.

Senior pupils have begun to mark out the organic garden into class plots, and classroom litter is being subdivided for recycling and  compost making.

We are linking up with a Birmingham school which has introduced a plastic recycling project.  We hope to set up a similar project in our school with their help.

Prior to Christmas, our senior pupils were given a lecture on the perils of substance abuse by a representative of the IDEAS  Youth Education Group.

They also spent a day with speakers from ACCORD who led them through a programme on relationships.  These are important elements in the SPHE curriculum for senior classes.
