Before you get a Rabbit you should consider these points:

  • In the wild rabbits live in groups and need companionship. Ideally, no rabbit should be kept in a hutch by itself. Are you prepared to look after two or more rabbits(of the same sex) and give them plenty of attention?

  • Rabbits need feeding twice a day and their hutches need daily tidying and a thorough clean each week. Are you prepared to do this?

  • All rabbits need daily exercise, preferably in a safe, grassy area. Will you remember to provide this?

  • Do you know somebody who will look after your rabbit when you go away on holiday ?

Advice for Rabbit Owners:

A good pet owner looks after his/her rabbits everyday. If you play with your rabbit regularly, you will get to know its likes and dislikes and its usual behaviour. If you think that your rabbit is off form or is not acting like its usual self you should consider calling a vet or bringing your rabbit to a vet.

We recommend that if you own a pet you should buy a book on how to care for it properly. Alternatively you might be able to get a book in your local library.
