BEHAVIOR

Darren Flynn and Dean Sherry

Irish based dance act, ‘Behavior’, consists of DJ/musicians Dean Sherry and Darren Flynn, both hailing from Dublin. With a varied wealth of experience in the music industry these are two dedicated professionals with a common goal in making original progressive house music and bringing it to the live stage. Together they began a year long plan in 1996 to create a unique yet accessible edge on progressive house drawing on both their extensive musical experience and fusing their ideas together to form ‘Behavior’.

Darren has been involved within the industry for over 10 years although he stems from an originally rock musical background as primarily a bassist/ vocalist/ songwriter involving many different bands including more notably the acclaimed but short lived ‘Steel Rain’. Since their break up Darren, an avid clubber, involved himself in some producing and sound engineering leading him into dance music and he realised the exciting possibilities and challenges within. He involved himself in DJ-ing but always stayed close to his live music background. Darren’s unique musical talent and ambition are very evident in his work and he shows the commitment and professionalism required to create purposeful music. Darren and Dean together created and conceived the new ideas and concepts leading the two to form ‘Behavior’.

Behavior

Dean has himself carved out a distinguished DJ career dating back to 1989 when he was only 16 by getting himself involved in local radio and youth disco’s before discovering house music, beginning a lifetimes quest for vinyl! A devoted clubber Dean closely listened to all of the pioneering Irish DJs of that era play early house and acid and garage whilst practising the art at home. House parties followed as did local events and numerous radio slots before he blagged a job with a promoter who brought Dean around various venues and clubs as part of a mixed entertainment group. Slowly now gaining local recognition Dean was offered a slot on a then leading pirate dance radio station and this was to signal his debut into clubland. His rise to popularity from this point was unprecedented. He was launched onto the Dublin club scene initially as a support DJ and very soon as a main act in his own Behavior right. Today Dean Sherry stands alone as a unique high profile mixing DJ unpredictable yet adaptable and always satisfying the audiences he draws. He has played in almost every main venue nation-wide and has held down numerous residencies in many top clubs as well as hosting and guesting on many radio shows, both national and pirate. He has involved himself in producing and songwriting over the last few years and is totally dedicated to his music. Dean was voted ‘Best DJ by Wrangler/Universal Dance’ in 1996. He has secured dates in the UK, the US and in Italy this year because of his endless determination and tireless Behavior ambition. Both Dean and Darren intend to bring ‘Behavior’ on tour incorporating an exciting full live show involving both DJ-ing and a live act simultaneously, incorporating 7 decks, keyboards, drum machines, samplers, plus other outboard effects.

‘Behavior’s’ sound is fresh yet serious and all their material will be released through their own record label ‘Impulsive Records’. Their debut release is titled "B.F.O.T." and its successor will be titled "Addiction".

Since the recording of these two tracks, proven DJ/Producer Tony Dexter (DJ Kayos) as come on board into ‘Behavior’ as the icing on the cake. The trio have completed several new tracks for release through Impulsive as both Behavior and other aliases including the ‘D.C. Collective’, ‘Dark Path’ and the ‘Harvey Floorbangers’. Presently they are busy recording material for an album as well as working endlessly on their live work. They are now endeavouring to set up ‘Impulsive’ club nights in various venues in an effort to break new talent as well as push and further establish their own unique sound.

At last, breaths of fresh air in Irish dance music!
