Tunes taking our lives away! I'm here though to let you know about what new release tunes are coming your way in the House, Progressive House, Tech-House and trance genres, with a few break beat monsters thrown in if they're good enough!

Promos have been flooding through my letterbox over the last week or three with labels eager to push hopeful summer anthems and album teasers.

Whoop! Are back following the amazing "New Solution" by Redanka with another monster in the form of "Vidapura" by Human Movement. This is very deep, very dark and mysterious yet quite minimal. Not overly in your face but beautifully produced with a warm melodic melody and a really blissed out feel. One for late at night? Not as tough either as some of the equally excellent previous releases. But still this is an amazing progressive house tune for those that appreciate it. This is on UK release sometime in July so it should end up on our shores soon.

Josh Wink is back after a long absence with "Simple Man" out on his Ovum label on the 6th of July. Taken from his debut album, 'Herehear', this is a crazy 303 fuelled collaboration with Hershael Gaer from the Interpreters. It's a bit of a monster, and the mixes range from cheeky electro funk, to hard and dirty Nu Skool, and to deep, dark experimental house.

The one everyone is asking about is the "Café Del Mar '98" by Energy 52 (Hooj Choons). Due for release on the 13th of July this promo has been circulating for a while, with Nalin & Kane's mix being the most talked about. And rightly so, with their mix being of the usual clubby stomper standard. Nicely done however. Other mixes come in the form of Oliver Lieb/L.S.G. (dark'n'dubby, quite hard), Hybrid (excellent breakbeat rendition) and the original Three 'N' One mix (nice touch!). After achieving No.6 in DJ magazine's Top 100 records ever this track refuses to die. Not bad for a tune that started out on Hamburg's Eye Q label in 1993. And presumably Hooj Choons have paid loads of money for it to do the business for them. Will it crossover? The push is on to put this classic to bed once and for all and I think that with this package Hooj will do it. Massive.

Other tracks out around the same time.

Those fine house purveyors AM:PM are back with a classy (as always) re-working of "Movin' On", by featured vocalist Carolyn Harding & Prospect Park. Out on July 27th this is yet another blazing chunk of very recommended vinyl. Great mix variety. The Ministry crew are banging out some well-produced house in the forms of firstly State Of Mind's "Take Control" (Ministry Of Sound). This is currently getting rave reviews in the UK press due to its uplifting vocals and mix package. The crew behind this is Ricky Morrison and Frank Sidoli (M&S), and they feature vocalist Michelle Douglas. Very uplifting, very M.O.S. and undoubtedly going to be very big! July 6th sees this on general release. Nice warm up stuff. Sao Paulo's "Be Yourself Be Free" is the second. A bit tougher than the other release but nonetheless very summery and Balearic. This will be huge in Ibiza with its filtered percussion and funky guitar riffs. Mixes come from Joey Negro, Twisted Punk and a 187 Lockdown and Jazzy M collaboration (Brazilia Mix). Out in late June. Funky. Man With No Name is back in slightly less pumping form with his latest Perfecto release "The First Day (Horizon)". I reckon he is going for a UK Top 40 chart entry with this vocal epic. Expect the usual trancy progressive builds and drops but with not as much of his trademark big farty basslines as you would expect. The featured vocalist is Mark Gardener (ex -Ride). This tune is taken from the forthcoming album 'Earth Moving the Sun'. Out on the 6th of July. Finally watch out for a Positiva release of a one-sided blue vinyl monster titled "Storm". It's an animal. No release date though as yet.

Lots of DJs and clubbers are looking for the US only (so far) release of a collaboration between BT and Sasha. Titled "Ride" by 2 Phat Cunts, the track is supposed to be absolutely fucking amazing. Or so I've been told. Big in the boxes of the likes of Nick Warren and Digweed. It's been out for a while in the US on promo on the Yoshitoshi (I think!) label so surely someone will snap it up. I haven't yet heard it or seen it floating around. I imagine though that it is a break-beat fuelled trancy affair (obviously!). A trainspotters wet dream though by the sound of it! And I have one en-route to me as we speak! More later.
