LEGEND'S

Every Saturday night, the Impulsive Records posse and main act "PHUNK’DUP" featuring DJs Dean Sherry, Barry Dempsey & Darren Nolan hit the road for the 40 minute drive to The Curragh, Co. Kildare to the secluded club known as LEGEND’S. Previously called Nijinski’s, Legend’s is the new name on the Jockey Hall premises in Ballysax, at the back of the Curragh camp and golf course.

The 800 capacity venue boasts an impressive sound system and custom DJ boxes in it’s two rooms. A VIP area and restaurant are also on the licensed premises.

When we arrived down there in February 1999 the venue had just re-opened and was under new management, with good intentions but not a lot of knowledge regarding pulling in the people they wanted. Enter Fresh Promotions!

We did a launch party called ‘Seventh Heaven’, celebrating the music of the SHAFT club (RIP), and almost 600 people flooded the doors, which was a nice increase from the unsteady 150 people in on a Saturday night up until then! We ran busses from Dublin and other regional areas including Kildare, Naas, Newbridge, Carlow, Celbridge and Maynooth.

From then on it was in the bag and we instigated PHUNK’DUP to the Saturday night slot.

In July 1999 the venue again changed hands but the crew were kept on that were responsible for the running and promotion and together they bought into the premises.

Our plans now for the next few months include keeping PHUNK’DUP at the centre of weekend clubbing for the area and utilising some excellent local talent also on both Friday and Saturdays to promote new jocks and keep the punters entertained and constantly hearing new music.

Sundays opened recently for the massive Under-18’s market to huge success. Plans are afoot for Thursday nights and also a Monday night venture.

The premises is available for hire on Tuesdays & Wednesdays for corporate events, student parties, fashion shows, private functions, casino nights and fund raising features.

The market in Kildare is obviously geared towards Dance music and the weekend policy includes Deep House, Underground Progressive Trance, Break-Beats, Tech-House & Techno.

From late August 1999 we are featuring a monthly UK guest night, with guests from Renaissance, Cream, Whoop! Records, Gatecrasher, Lush, Ministry Of Sound and Melonhaus all planned for features.

Clubbing just got better here in Ireland!
