‘RELEASE’

Welcome to the first regular club night by Ireland’s new Dance Music Record Label & DJ Agency, Impulsive Records.

Over the last year and a half Impulsive has been working on setting up the entity that it is now as well as recording and composing original dance music. The team so far comprises DJs and musicians/producers and includes Dean Sherry, Tony Dexter (DJ Kayos), Darren Flynn, Barry Dempsey, Darren Nolan, Keith Sheridan and Rob Early.

The original founding crew behind this project was Dean Sherry and his recording partner Darren Flynn. Darren, an experienced musician, approached Dean, already a proven DJ, and Impulsive Records is the end result. Behavior was set up in late 1996 by the two partners and was to be the name that the duo recorded under. Together the two DJ/musicians decided to create quality original progressive house music, with a unique and true underground sound. Over the time period until now Behavior has recorded nearly 10 original tracks, and they are scheduled for release. The duo also during that time teamed up with proven DJ/producer Tony Dexter, and he joined them in Behavior. Tony has already enjoyed several Irish Top 20 chart releases. No Irish dance music record label has to date enjoyed much success, or scored highly with original music. Impulsive intends to change that trend and put Ireland on the map regarding the dance arena. We have a competitive edge, in that we pioneer the Future DJ’ concept here in Ireland. A term used for the new breed of DJ/musician that we represent.

Impulsive Records is currently endeavouring to set up regular club nights in various Dublin and indeed regional venues to help finance the label and establish the name. Republica allows us to bring Impulsive Records and all that we stand for to a permanent Dublin location.

Without any further introductions I am proudly launching Impulsive Record’s first Dublin residency, ‘Release’, every Thursday in Republica, (the old Power’s Hotel) in Kildare Street, Dublin 2, (phone 01-6794388). This newly refurbished 800 person capacity venue boasts a lavish décor with a full Turbosound rig and intelligent lighting system downstairs in the main room. Upstairs in the stylish bar continues the décor in a more laid-back atmosphere with DJ Box and full sound rig. Republica also has a comfortable back bar and an enclosed VIP area with full bar.

Starting on Thursday the 21st of May, with the launch party, and continuing every week in Dublin’s trendiest new venue, Republica, ‘Release’ takes the reigns with a solid Progressive House music policy.

To be on the cutting edge of music is what Impulsive represents and that is what will be displayed in Republica.

Resident DJ Dean Sherry (POD, System, Shaft, Kitchen) will be downstairs in the main room, and he will feature regular guests from the Impulsive line-up (noted above), as well as other select high profile Irish DJs. Upstairs will feature a more laid-back classic dance vibe with another Impulsive DJ and/or guest. Special guest DJs will feature regularly and through this mailing list you will find out whom. We intend to utilise the cream of the Irish DJ talent and on occasion we will take respected international guests. This is the first Impulsive Records residency, right in the heart of the city.

Dean Sherry also has two weekly radio shows on the new Kiss 105.3FM (phone 01-4785045), every Monday and Wednesday night between 9-12Midnight. Each week he will push and promote both new upfront music and the tunes that will feature in ‘Release’. He will also feature on the Wednesday night show some of the guest DJs that will be appearing in Republica.

Impulsive DJ Darren Flynn also works on Kiss FM on Fridays from 6-9pm with his 'Progressive Delights' show. Also broadcasting on 105.3FM this kicks off the weekend. Watch and listen for information regarding all Impulsive events on this station.
