Darren has been involved in the club scene since the early
‘90’s. He was
originally involved in the promotion and managerial end of dance
events and
as an avid clubber, became involved in design and has designed
many of Fresh
Promotions & Impulsive Records flyers, posters and other
documentation. A
qualified Graphic Reproproducer, his designs and productions have
received critical acclaim. Today he plays an integral role in all
of
Impulsive’s and Fresh’s events, in both the managerial
/ promotional end,
and the DJ / music end. He is a Director of the aforementioned
companies.
Already a
proven DJ, Darren has played in clubs such
as the Shaft, the Tube, the Attic and Shenannigans (all in &
around Dublin).
Following that Republica, GPO, Legend’s, Maynooth College, UCD, & Trinity College,
plus the
many varied venues and colleges covered by the on-going
"PHUNK’DUP" tours.
He has been incremental in the organisation and promotion of many
of these
events and was behind the acclaimed theme nights
‘Funkysensual’, ‘Aural Sex’
and, as the photo shows, Fresh Promotion’s mega-successful
‘70’s theme night
‘Boogie’, all with partner Dean Sherry. He has also
been involved with Manik
Event Management and presently Fresh Promotions. His music is
hard-edged yet
uplifting as well as unpredictable, and his unique style shines
in his
determination and cool approach to his DJing.
Since mid-1998 Darren, together with Dean & Barry have been working tightly together on the "PHUNK’DUP" live DJ project and in early 1999 the trio hit the studio producing a new sound of music to come from Impulsive Records and to be unleashed by September 1999.
