KILGOBBAN

"KILGOBBAN, a parish in the barony of Corkaguiny, county Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, containing the village of Cappaclough. Tralee is its post town. The parish is 4 miles long by 2 broad. Tralee Bay bounds it on the N. The surface is mountainous, containing part of the Cahirconree mountains. The soil is mostly good. The road from Tralee to Dingle passes through the parish. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe, value £356, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was built in 1825 by means of a loan from the late Board of First Fruits. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Ballinvoker. There are two hedge-schools."
