"Post office, parish of O'DORNEY, 5½ miles from Tralee. The parish has a population of 1,619, the village 250. This place takes its name from the ancient abbey of O'Dorney founded here in 1154 for Cistercian monks. Parish of KILLAHAN (pop. 1,040) served from this poat office. Land of variable quality, portion consists of mountain and bog."
