LETTERS
TO THE EDITOR
RADIO & T.V. INTERFERENCE
Dear Mr. O'Hanlon,
I wish to reply to the letters you have received concerning
interference to radio and television in the Donnybrook area.
The Office of the Director of Telecommunications (ODTR) is the
agency charged with investigating such matters and I am
responsible for the section that deals with this. I was unaware
of the problems that the residents of Donnybrook were suffering
until these letters were brought to my attention this morning.
I have been in touch with RTE who have informed me that their
records only indicate one complaint of interference by this
station in October last year, which ceased after an approach by
local RTE engineers.
The Department of Communications no longer deals with these
matters as it ceased to exist in 1997. Most of its functions were
transferred to the ODTR and the Department of Public Enterprise.
If any Donnybrook residents are suffering interference I would be
happy to speak with them. I can be contacted on my direct number
below, or by email at: interference@odtr.ie.
Alternatively you can write to me at the address below.
Sincerely,
Niall Mac Caughey

CAN YOU HELP US?
I am writing on behalf of Warwick Womens Football club. We are
going to Ireland for our tour from Saturday 17th til Tuesday 20th
March. We have had our friendly matches which were due to be
played on grass cancelled due to the foot and mouth crisis. We
were wondering whether you could help us in finding someone to
play and somewhere to play indoors?
We are of average standard and would be happy to play 5, 6, 7 or
11-a-side.
I realise this is short notice but would be grateful if you could
in any way help us out.
Many thanks,
Aimee Barrable
