LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

"TEN MINUTE BUS SERVICE"? Ha!

Dear Michael,

I would like to complain about the new “ten minute” bus service. It is not always bad but sometimes me and the other students of Douglas Community School are waiting for the bus to Grange for up to half an hour, sometimes even more. Then when the bus does come, it is packed and most busses don't stop when it's packed. I know it can be busy coming from town but if that was the case then they shouldn't have introduced this service.
Keep up the good work.

(student at Douglas Community School).

PROPOSED MULTI-STOREY DEVELOPMENT!

Dear Editor,

I would be grateful if you would give me the space to express my grave concerns regarding the proposed development of the Douglas (Tesco) Shopping Centre incorporating a multi-story car park.
Do Douglas people realise the monstrosity which is going to be constructed on their doorstep? I have no doubt that if this development is allowed to go ahead it will result in:

1) Even worse traffic gridlock than exists today.
2) A further deterioration in the quality of air due to carbon monoxide pollution from cars.
3) A dwarfing of the village due to the vast extent of the building.
4) The loosing of two rivers (Tramore and Ballybrack) which will be classified as "Dead Rivers"

for future generations of Douglas people.

Surely Cork County Council and Cork Corporation will not stand idly by and allow the destruction of what they themselves describe as the "Village Concept" in Douglas.
Yours Sincerely
Michael Martin
Douglas
