THANK YOU

Dear Sir,

I was wondering if you could assist me in thanking someone.
I was in Douglas Park last Monday week (23/4/01) with my children. My son left behind his backpack and some very important personal items. A very kind lady took the backpack and contents to Douglas Garda Station and my son was happily re-united with his backpack.
Unfortunately, I didn't get this lady's name and I wanted to thank her for her kindness. If she reads this perhaps she might contact you. I have a small gift of appreciation for her.

THANKS TO CORK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Dear Editor,

Just a short note to express my sincere gratitude to the following; Dr. Rose Curtin, Frankfield, and all the staff of the Children's Ward at Cork University Hospital, also my neighbours and friends who were so supporting when my grandchild Kyra was ill. Thank God all is well again.

A PLEASANT EVENING AT THE BREWERY

One evening recently I spent a very pleasant few hours in the Beamish Hospitality Room in the company of a grand bunch of sportsmen . the occasion being the launch of the Douglas
and Beamish Rugby Club Tour of Wales.
John White President of the Douglas Club, told me that Douglas had a team as far back as the last century, having played the Cork Constitution in the Cork County Final in 1894. At present they have two teams in the Junior League and are doing quite well. The membership stands at around sixty.
Others I spoke to during the evening were Denis Barry a great club stalwart, John Rothwell, the former Blackrock and Cork Hurling Star. Toss Cahill of Greenmount Rangers, and that ever gracious gentleman Larry O'Neill of Beamish & Crawford.
The craic was mighty, the drink was flowing and the food was delicious.
Dr. Billy St.John of Dolphion RFC contributed richly to the success of the evening and rounded off the proceedings with a lovely selection of songs.
Many thanks to Beamish & Crawford for hosting the function.
