LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

DOUGLAS TIDY TOWNS

Dear Michael.

I would like on behalf of the Tidy Towns Committee to thank all those who helped to put flower barrels and half barrels in various parts of Douglas Village last Saturday. Also thanks to the many owners of premises who offered to maintain them in the weeks ahead.
A special thanks to Billy Coleman who provided transport to put the barrels in place.
I would ask that a special effort is made during the remainder of July to present Douglas Village at it’s best to ensure a good result.
I would like to see new people join us every Wednesday (7.00pm to 9.00pm) and Saturday morning (10.30am to 1.00pm) .I would on behalf of Douglas Tidy Towns to thank those who turn up for the ‘Street Sweep’ every Wednesday and Saturday.

Finally I hope you had a good holiday and that you found Douglas Village looking well on your return.

NEW YORK 'POOPER SCOOPERS'

Hi Michael
I' m glad to hear of the new "Pooper Scooper' program. It works pretty good here in New York, the majority of people clean up after their dogs. There is a $250 fine if you are caught leaving the “Poop" behind.
Good luck
Ann Hallissey

CONCERNED PARENT

I was driving past the community park last Saturday night around 7 pm and I saw 3 young guys who were, shall I say, slightly drunk, one of them was urinating into the plants, and the other two were standing their with cans of beer in their hands bold as brass. Ii drove up the village and turned around and went back to have a word, when I got as far as Morris House corner they were staggering up the middle of the road between traffic!!! I didn’t bother saying anything to them because i didn’t really want to draw them on me, as much as I wanted to. Am I the only person that sees the empty beer cans in the community park, and the walkway behind the garage in Donnybrook. I see young guys and girls walking up through the village with cans of beer in bags, do the parents know, do the gardai know this is going on right under their noses, its only a matter of time before someone is hurt, is this all The kids in Douglas can look forward to on a Friday, Saturday night as there is nothing else to do!!!!!!!!
