STATIC ELECTRICITY
Dear Michael,
I wonder if any of your readers out there can come up with a cure
for Static Electricity in the body.
My Daughter suffers from it. She cannot touch fridge doors in the
supermarket. Even if she goes in for petrol she must wait for
someone to fill it for her and sometimes she can get a belt from
her car door. If anyone knows how to combat it, I would be very
grateful for any advice.
Thanking you sincerely
Joe Brown,
Ballintemple.
DOUGLAS TIDY TOWNS
Dear Michael.
I wish to thank all who supported our Flag Day on Tuesday and all
who helped in making it a great success.
It is great to see the footpaths taking shape and the services
going underground. This has been done in many other Tidy Towns
entrants.
The Street Sweep continues on Saturday meeting at 10.00am to 12.30pm
at the Community Centre, Church road, Douglas.
I wish to remind your readers that the best shop front shop for
August will be their selection, which must be sent to the
Secretary Douglas Tidy Towns Committee, C/o Douglas Community
Association, Church Road Douglas, Cork,

PROPOSED ESAT TRANSMITTER
Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter dated Aug 12th regarding the proposed Esat
transmitter at Garryduff Sports Centre, Rochestown. I completely
agree with Teresa Brennan. How on earth could a Sports Centre
allow a transmitter to be erected on its premises given the many
reports suggesting possible health risks? Considering the large
numbers of very young children and adults using the centre for
tennis, hockey, Summer Camps and the location of a Montessori
school in the Clubhouse, it shows a total disrespect by the
management of Garryduff Sports Centre for their health and well
being.
Is the Club not aware of the Government guidelines for
transmitters and their proximity to schools and high-density
housing? I understand that the local residents have already made
their concerns known to the club but it would appear that
financial gain is its priority and mot its members and neighbours.
I hope many people will make their views known to the planners.
Yours sincerely
Monty Corso
