The control unit and belowdecks fluxgate compass are designed for permanent installation, in the manner of our big-boat modular autopilots, eliminating exposed wiring and other cockpit clutter. The drive unit features a rugged single-stage epicyclic gearbox and recirculating-ball leadscrew, giving the ST4000 Plus the power to helm boats of up to 6,500kg (14,300 lb) displacement; the still more powerful GP drive option pushes this limit up to a remarkable 9,000kg (20,000 lb).
