By winning the Connaught Title in 1994, the public spotlight suddenly cast it's beam across Leitrim and it's footballing heroes. Along with the usual local press and radio interviews now came the prospect of national if not global coverage.
This might have daunted a lesser bird but not our Dustin. True to form he flew at every opportunity to promote his county and to document his personal sacrifices in order to bring the Nester Cup to Shannon side.
In a revealing article published two weeks after the Connaught Final Dustin detailed to the 'Hogan Stand' the personal sacrifices he made; " On managers orders Mickey Quinn and I were on the gargle for two days before the big game, John (O'Mahoney) had warned all the players to drink lots of liquids before the game, but he didn't specify which ones."
