The Mountains

Nepal is a place of stunning beauty. One cannot help but be impressed by the sheer size of the landscape. Countless tonnes of rock thrust up from the base of an extinct ocean over the past fifty-five million years now form the peaks of the highest mountain range in the world. It seems ironic that there are marine fossils to be found at this height and it is hard to imagine that the cortorted beds in the rock faces were formed when sand and particles of dead sea-life settled at the base of an ocean.
