'Don't bother's and Please Don'ts

  • A good book. Why? You have already escaped from your normal world into one of stunning beauty with people you may never meet again - both locals and other travellers. Why carry a half kilo of paper to aid you in escaping to another world while you are there?
  • Personal stereo - see book. In addition, these things require batteries. Listen instead to the chatter of the locals, the chirping of the insects and the cracking of the glaciers.
  • Sweets, pens and small change for the cute and endearing children. - No way! Do them, their families and subsequent travellers a favour by not turning the children into beggars. Pay a fair price for good service and quality goods. Don't give anything to children except your name and a broad smile.
