My name is
Anthony Hayes.I am in a special class this year.Some of the lads in the class are messers. I get up at 8.oo o’clock every morning.I have an alarm clock but at the moment it is not working because the battery is dead. I then put on my uniform. My uniform is a navy pants, a blue t-shirt and a navy blue jumper with a school crest on it.I sometimes play my playstation early in the morning. This drives my mother mad. We won it in a computer competition in school two years ago.All the boys in the class won a playstation and the school won a computer.
Then I go to school. I walk with my brother Michael. It only takes three minutes. On Monday mornings we do "Our News". We write about what is happening in school and around the place. Sir brings in the morning paper and we read the headlines. We always read the sports pages.
When we have our news written we have a break at 10.00 clock. When we come in, we do Tables and Maths and Irish and we play Monopoly, if we get our work done in time.We all get turns on the Acorn computer to do our Maths.We use Mathsbook on the Acorn computer. It is a very old computer.We get 20 sums to do on the computer. If we need help, we get help on the computer. When we have done 20 sums, we have to print out the results on a sheet. Our teacher keeps them in his file. Our teacher knows if we have truble when he looks at the sheet.
We have a break at about 10.30 am for about fifteen minutes.I do not
play football in the yard. I just walk around with my friend David Phelan.On a wet day we
stay in and a teacher walks around, looking after us. I hate wet days because we cannot go
out. We have to sit in our places. Some of the lads in this class cause trouble by running
around the class or by messing.
After Maths we have religion. We do storys from the Bible. We learn about fellows like Moses and what they did.We are making our Confirmation this year.
At 12.00 some boys go to Mrs Hayes for help with their reading.She has the same name as me but we are not related.I go to her at 1.40 p.m. for a half an hour.The other boys do English back in the classroom.We get our lunch at 12.30. I go home for mine as I only live around the corner from the school.
Most of the boys stay in for their lunch.They bring in sandwiches, crisps and a drink. Some bring in some fruit. Most of the lads in the school stay in for lunch. Only lads living near the school go home.
When we come back we might do some history and we do PE at 2.00 p.m.
on Thursday’s.We have to bring indoor shoes.We do PE in the hall of secondary
school.We do not have a hall of our own. Sir has a rule "No indoors, no PE". On
Fridays we do Art. I like art. I made nice Christmas cards.We could make them on the
computer as well.
We come back at 2.45 p.m. and we go home soon after.We write down our homework just before we go.We have special homework notebooks. We do not get a lot of homework in this class.
I do not mind coming to school. I really like working on computers.I like a programme called Story maker. We put together our own stories and people walk and talk across the screen.I have a story started but I do not have it finished yet.It is about a car crash.
I like school.
