We live in what is called the "Information Age".
Everywhere you look you hear mention of mobile phones, e-mail and the Internet and so on.
Schools are different places now than they were even twenty years ago. When my father went
to school they had a coal fire in the class. Schools of the future, will be different
places again. Pupils won't come as often as they will be on the Internet in their
homes. The pupils will stay at home for a lot of the time and only come to school for
lessons that involve talking face to face.
Pupils will have a PC or a laptop at home and discs with their books on them. The discs
will be CD-ROM or DVD special books for schools. These will be red especially for
schools. We will not have schools, as we know, them to day. Teachers will be at the school
and we will be at home on a computer. The teacher will be able to see us, as we will have
a golfball thing on our computer so he can see us all the time. We will not have bags like
to day. We will have a disc to put our work on and then put it in you pocket.
Our class could be with anyone from any place in the world. By using
videoconference we could have a chat with a person from America or Australia. We could see
them and talk to them as if they were beside us. Only big companies can do this at
present, as it is too expensive for schools to buy.We once got a loan of a data
projector. It made the screen bigger. You unplugged the monitor from the computer and
plugged in the data projector. You then watched it on a screen. Then everybody in the
class could see it. Now we have to look into a 14 ins monitor. Bad news for a class.
Schools in the future should have their own.Things are always changing in schools.
