PRESS RELEASE 6/10/2000

THE FLUO-RIDE CROOK OF YORK!

The Fluo-ride Crook of York,
He had twelve “science” men,
He made them swallow a bitter pill,

And ignore the Science again.

Unfortunately, the latest conclusions of the York Review (U.K.), on water fluoridation, have neither rhyme nor reason. They are a disgrace to science and a danger to the public.

The York Review was supposed to look at the effects of fluoride on Health (U.K. government White Paper on health). Therefore, as they concentrated purely on water fluoridation they ignored their initial objective. The U.K. review began by throwing out and ignoring all animal and biochemical studies. How many drugs would remain on pharmacy shelves if animal studies were suddenly forgotten? When the Science will not fit the conclusion, remove it! The Review defeated itself with a closed review by hand picked “science” men who chose one study over another.

The Review ignored the fact that there are no studies on the acid fluoride (hydrofluosilicic acid), pumped into our drinking water, proving it either safe or effective. This acid fluoride has a wide range of toxic contaminants and is a waste product of the fertiliser industry. See chemical analysis[1].

The Review ignored the total fluoride intake e.g. toothpaste, food, beer and tea. Fluoride is a bio-accumulator i.e., a toxin that builds up in the body over time.

So, what are the Facts?

1.      98% of Europe says “NO” to water fluoridation.

2.      There are no health studies in 35 years of water fluoridation in Ireland, despite legislation-Health (fluoridation of water supplies) Act 1960.

3.      We drink and consume unmeasured, uncontrolled levels of fluoride daily.

4.      Health damage linked to fluoride includes-dental fluorosis, hip fracture, thyroid dysfunction, neurological damage and IBS.

The National Pure Water Association (NPWA)[2] and other citizen’s groups in the U.K. are calling for an independent public enquiry into the misgivings of the York Review and the policy of water fluoridation.
