(I studied “The Landed Gentry of Ireland, Burke 1912 ” under "Lamberts formerly of Castle Ellen" and found the following information for our project)                      
Lorna O'Regan 13-11-98.  

John Lambert, of Carlton, Craven and Yorkshire was an officer in Clanricarde’s regiment with the Duke of Ormonde’s army in Ireland in 1689. He married Mary French. He had a lease of Creg Clare from the Earl of Clanricarde in 1669 and settled there on the 23rd June 1659 and died in 1683 leaving -  
1. Joseph Lambert, ancestor of the Mayo Branch. (See Lamberts of Brookhill).  
2.Charles Lambert.  
3. Mary who married Robert French of Rahassane  
Charles Lambert of Creg Clare married Janet, daughter of Walter Taylor, of Castle MacGarrett, Co Mayo, and was killed at the Siege of Derry, 1689, leaving a son.  

Walter Lambert of Creg Clare, Co. Galway married  firsly Miss Hamilton and had issue  

1.  Charles Lambert of Creg Clare, married 1742 to Margaret daughter of Dominick Brown of Castle McGarrett Co. Mayo and had issue. 

Walter Lambert of Creg Clare married secondly Miss Martin of Tullyra Castle and he died 17th May 1770 leaving 

2. John Lambert of Milford Co. Galway.  
3. Peter Lambert of Castle Ellen.  
4. Thomas Lambert, married daughter of Mr Wood of Chapel Field Co. Sligo and had issue.   
1. A daughter married Francis Butler of Creg.  
2. A daughter married Mr Morgan of Monksfeild.  
The3rd son of Charles of Creg Clare  
Peter Lambert of Castle Ellen was married to Miss Carroll of Ardagh and had issue, a son.  
Walter Peter Lambert of Castle Ellen married Miss Tubbs and had issue of whom the eldest.  
Peter Lambert of Castle Ellen married firstly in 1810 Eleanor (Died 20th November 1828) eldest daughter of Thomas Seymour of Ballymore Castle and had issue.  
1.Walter Peter Lambert of Castle Ellen.  
2.Thomas Seymour Lambert.   
3.Peter Lambert.  
4. Isabella who married in May 1851 Edward Henry Carson of Dublin  
He married secondly and died 17th January 1844 having further issue.  
5.Ada Constance,who was married, on the 26th May 1857, to Sir George Moyers who became Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1881.  
6. Louisa Maria married, in April 1853, to Henry J.S.Bowdler.  
  
Walter Peter Lambert of Castle Ellen, Co. Galway,(1816 - 1892) D.L. J.P., High Sheriff 1859 . On the 5th March, 1848 he married Elizabeth only daughter of William McO'Boy of Stump Hill Co. Cork (who died 7th Jan 1903) and they had issue  
1.Peter Fitzwalter Lambert  
2. William 1856- 1865  
3. Kate who married Capt. William Weston.  
Peter Fitzwalter Lambert of Castle Ellen Co. Galway (8.12.1848 - 24.2.1894) J.P., High Sheriff 1891 married 7.7.1887 Julia Mary daughter of Col. Henry Alexander Hewetson of Auchnacloy, Co. Dublin ( who died 27.5...1939) and they had issue  
1. Walter Peter Lambert.  
2. Henry Alexander Lambert.  
3. William Robert Lambert.  
Walter Peter Lambert, Lt. Col., M.C. (1918,) of Clareville Oughterard Co. Galway, Formerly of Castle Ellen, Athenry, Co. Galway, late R.A., (8.1.1891 - ) married on 8.1.1913 Gladys Mabell daughter of Edmond French Boys Russell of Ardagh, Lismore, Co. Waterford and had issue  
1.Doreen Sylvia who was born 7.12.1914.,M.B.E. (1946)
